Southern Cross Homes

Rada delivers a high quality product with low-cost maintenance for Sydney’s Southern Cross Homes.

Southern Cross Homes operate aged care facilities across New South Wales, providing high quality hostel and nursing home accommodation for the elderly. Tully Architects and hydraulic consultants Whipps Wood were contracted to design Cardinal Gilroy Village at Merrylands and Barry Halbert Plumbing was engaged to install the plumbing solution.

The project

Southern Cross Homes have used Rada 215 Thermostatic Mixing Valves throughout the staged development of the Cardinal Gilroy Village, a mix of new and existing buildings, extensions and refurbishments.

The project had strict specifications for providing reliable and safe water temperatures for washing and bathing. Of utmost importance was continued delivery of safe warm water for residents in hostel and nursing home accommodation.

The solution

Thornthwaite liased with various parties to install Rada 215 mixing valves into the ensuite bathrooms, at different stages of the project. The quality of the Rada TMV range had consistently met low maintenance requirements, and was the preferred option for delivering blended warm water for washbasins and bathing facilities.

Each exposed wall mounted 215bk TMV box assembly or recessed 215dk TMV box assembly was installed to provide warm water for a number of ensuite bathrooms. Because the product can be adapted to suit new or existing buildings, it provided a flexible solution for managing blended water.

Benefits

  • Low maintenance mixing valves featuring Radatherm
  • Reliable, safely blended water
